EY Law appoints new partners in Vienna and Salzburg
EY Law is proud to announce the appointment of two new partners effective July 1: Dr. Katrin Speigner will lead the Salzburg office as Partner, and Dr. Martin Hanzl will be appointed as Partner at the Vienna office. This continues the firm’s successful path of expansion and drives the overall positive growth trend of EY Law nationally and internationally.
As of July 1, 2024, two new partners will strengthen the leadership team of EY Law – Pelzmann Gall Größ Rechtsanwälte. This is a strong indication of the continuous growth and (international) success of the business law firm in recent years, increasingly positioning the ‘next generation’ in management roles from within the firm. Notably, the seven-member leadership team of EY Law now includes three female partners, setting a strong example for career opportunities for women in the legal profession.
Since 2016, the business law specialist has been leading the EY Law office in Salzburg. The firm has established itself there with, among other things, corporate and labor law as well as transaction-related advice, building the team sustainably and successfully. Its strength lies in the cross-border contacts brought by EY’s international business and tax consulting network. Examples of this work include mandates from SkiStar and EMCO Group, which relied on EY Law’s lawyers for transactions in Austria. In labor law, the long-standing advice to the BWT Group stands out.
Katrin Speigner has many years of experience in corporate and commercial law at several renowned firms in Salzburg and has managed many national and international projects before taking over the Salzburg office with her team. Since then, she has successfully led the firm with a team of three lawyers. In addition to numerous awards for the firm and individual practice groups, EY Law in Salzburg has been recognized by JUVE as one of the best law firms in Salzburg.
Martin Hanzl started as a trainee lawyer at EY Law in Vienna in 2018, where he soon focused on crypto topics and the start-up scene. The NewTech team, led by Hanzl since 2021, is one of the fastest-growing areas of the firm. In addition to the largest Austrian FinTechs and TradFi companies, globally leading crypto service providers also rely on the advice of the firm’s youngest partner.
Among the numerous successful projects are the long-term advice to Austria’s largest FinTech, Bitpanda, on various products and the support of the MiCAR license application, as well as comprehensive advice to the world’s leading Layer-2 chain developer, Matter Labs, on various legal areas concerning their high-tech blockchain applications.
