EY Law and EY advised Link Mobility on the acquisition of WebSMS
EY Law Österreich (Pelzmann Gall Größ Rechtsanwälte GmbH) and EY advised Link Mobility, a leading provider of mobile messaging and CPaaS solutions in Europe, on the acquisition of atms and sms.at (WebSMS) for a mid double-digit million euro amount. This is Link Mobility’s first acquisition since the company’s recent IPO.
Mario Gall, partner (M&A) at EY Law: “With the Austrian market leader WebSMS and the Link Mobility Group, two top providers of mobile messaging solutions are bundling their forces with immediate effect. We are delighted that EY Law was hired as a consultant for Link Mobility’s first acquisition since going public. Together with EY Strategy and Transactions and EY Tax, we have been able to provide a wide range of multidisciplinary services required to complete such a transaction.”
Mergers and acquisitions are expected to remain a key component of Link Mobility’s growth strategy. This should be achieved primarily through international expansion, but also further strengthening of the local presence and the position as market leader. In addition, the company is planning to acquire additional platform companies in order to penetrate new areas and establish market positions and to further differentiate the product range with innovative solutions.
Founded in Austria, WebSMS is the local market leader with more than 5,000 corporate customers and achieved sales of 15.4 million euros and an EBITDA of 5.1 million euros in the last 12 months up to 30 June 2020.
The EY Law team was led by Mario Gall (partner, M&A) and consisted among other of Mario Hoessl-Neumann, Martin Hanzl, Georg Harer and Ermano Geuer. Responsible for EY Strategy and Transactions and EY Tax were Dieter Schalko (partner) and Stefan Kainberger (partner). The Norwegian law firm AGP Advokater AS acted as additional legal advisor for Link Mobility. Schönherr and BDO advised the sellers.
