Vienna, 13.11.2023. EY Law Austria (Pelzmann Gall Größ Rechtsanwälte) advises the renowned crypto-FinTech and unicorn Bitpanda on key regulatory compliance matters. Together both are now further strengthening this successful cooperation in light of preparations for MiCAR (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation), the Europe-wide regulation of crypto services becoming applicable in 2024. Austria (Vienna) will remain as Bitpanda’s central MiCAR hub, next to Germany. The New Technology Desk, led by EY Law attorney Martin Hanzl, provides Bitpanda with comprehensive, strategic legal advice during these crucial growth phases and is now supporting the leading enterprise in meeting the strict regulatory requirements under MiCAR.
One of the first FinTechs to start comprehensive preparations for MiCAR
“As a big player in the crypto industry, Bitpanda is preparing for the significant changes brought about by MiCAR. Regulatory compliance is of paramount importance to Bitpanda. The start of the preparation phase in Austria went smoothly, which is certainly also due to EY Law’s many years of experience and our joint cooperation!” says Martin Hanzl, Head of the NewTech team and project lead at EY Law Austria.
“Regulatory compliance is the backbone of our success and part of each and every of our business decisions. It is therefore only logical for us to have been one of the first FinTechs to start comprehensive preparations for MiCAR. EY Law’s expertise continues to be a crucial factor and has already supported us during successful market launches for innovative products such as Cash Plus and Leverage. We are therefore proud to continue working together with EY Law in Austria in light of MiCAR”, says Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, Deputy CEO & COO of Bitpanda.
