Best law firms in Salzburg and Upper Austria
Congratulations to our EY Law colleagues in Salzburg and Linz, who were voted among the top law firms in Upper Austria and Salzburg, respectively, in the JUVE Austria ranking 2023.
“I am very pleased that we, as a rather young Salzburg law firm, have received two stars in our very first participation in the JUVE ranking for Austria’s best law firms. The recognition of the renowned JUVE publishing house is a confirmation of our successful joint path and the great team spirit at the location’, says Dr. Katrin Speigner, head of the Salzburg law office, about the excellent ranking.
“I am very proud of my team and grateful that we were included in the JUVE law firm rankings for Upper Austria at the first attempt,” said lawyer Christian Gusenbauer, who opened the Linz office only in 2020.
The Salzburg team of the firm, which cooperates with EY Law, has established itself since 2016 with corporate and employment law as well as transactional advice. The strength here lies in the cross-border contacts that the international network of business and tax consulting brings. Examples of this work include the mandates of SkiStar and Stommpy, each of which relied on the lawyers for transactions in Austria. In employment law, advice to the BWT Group stands out. Together with the water treatment specialist, PGG is developing a cloud-based platform that can be used to create employment contracts.
Since opening in 2020, the law firm’s still young Linz office has established a good standing in the market with its corporate and transactional advice. This is evidenced, for example, by a cross-border M&A mandate for a hotel operating company, which was led internationally by Hogan Lovells, but for Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania by Pelzmann Gall Größ Rechtsanwälte from Linz. Due to the cooperation with EY Law, mandates for the corporate practice often arise through overlaps with the network’s tax advisors and auditors, as in the case of work for an Austrian pharma company on a loss/profit split agreement with the Liechtenstein group parent company, which came via EY Tax. In addition to traditional corporate business, office manager Christian Gusenbauer also devotes himself to the start-up scene; for example, an AI service provider relied on him for series B and C financing rounds and for cooperations with German industrial companies.
